A marine learning journey for Seas At Risk

A marine learning journey for Seas At Risk

For over two years, we collaborated with Seas at Risk to ideate, design, and implement its pan-European marine protected areas (MPA) project. Our mission focused on three key areas: Facilitating an engaging learning journey for Seas at Risk, its member organisations, and partners to achieve the MPA project objectives; Building awareness and capacity among all project stakeholders, fostering alignment towards common goals; Stimulating exchange among project partners, identifying opportunities and support needs at both project and national levels.

Expedition

We conducted multiple meetings with the Seas at Risk project coordinator and colleagues to align on key activities, including organizing in-person meetings, online training, and workshops. Addressing specific challenges and opportunities, we designed customized workshops covering:

  • Community building practices and tactics
  • Communications and stakeholder engagement
  • Design and implementation of pan-European actions and advocacy strategy
  • Power mapping
  • Theory of Change and work plan design

Destination

While empowering the SAR team to articulate their vision, ambitions, and objectives, our two-year collaboration involved supporting, guiding, and challenging Seas at Risk and its partners. This dynamic process led to the co-creation of five workshops, four participatory online training sessions, a facilitation guideline for partner meetings, and a strategic year-end partner meeting report.

  • Gears In-person workshops (design and facilitation); online training (communication, messaging, policy, lobbying); power mapping; theory of change; appreciative inquiry
