On the 10th and 11th of July 2017, Otherwhere was invited by the IHECS Brussels School of Journalism and Communication to facilitate two sessions of the Inspire project first partners’ meeting. Inspire focuses on enhancing political participation amongst young people through the media and the educational process. We were asked to design and facilitate two sessions on the three main project’s outputs: local trainings in the six participating cities, the Inspire Summer School and the project’s common website.
We designed a participatory process that allowed the leading organisation (IHECS) to strengthen its relations with the project partners, as well as to launch the process of conceptualisation, design and planning of the project’s local and common activities, and its website.
After a first reflection on the problematics linked to media literacy and the active participation of young people in society, participants were guided towards the conceptualisation and design of the local activities. Participants were asked to pay particular attention to the different aspects of events planning, such as time, resources, impact measurement, outreach strategy and risks management.
We continued the process with the aim of enhancing trust and collaboration between the different partners. Two parallel sessions were then organised with the objective of advancing in the planning of the project’s website and summer school, to take place in Brussels in 2018.
